As we approach our 48th season, the Great Kills Swim Club is stronger than ever. The waiting list to become a member of our club is 6 to 8 years long.  The pool facilities are well maintained and sound for years to come.  We are proud to be able to offer excellence to Great Kills Swim Club families.

The Board is asking for a $100 dollar capital assessment for 2010 to complete various projects as discussed in detail at the winter meeting. Total dues for 2010 are $979.86

Enclosed is your annual information package for the upcoming swim season. The Board continues to work diligently to offset the increases over the years, especially in the areas of insurance, real estate taxes, salaries and maintenance.

              A certified, audited report of the Club’s expenses was presented at the winter meeting.  Copies will be posted at the Club in May.

Please read the attached pages carefully.  They contain important information and changes.  This information contains answers to many frequently asked questions.


·          Note the penalties for late payment of dues, guest & misc. fees. Badges will not be released if any fees are due.

·          Any special family or guest requests to the Board must be submitted, in writing, each year for approval.  The minimum fee will be $100 per person, and may be higher depending on the request.  Last year's fees may not apply.

·          Parties of 10 guests or more must receive prior approval. The member, prior to the party date, must sign a special form (available at the front office). See Rules & Regulations for details.

This letter is official notification that the bond value is currently $2,300. Adding the $100 this season brings bond total after dues are paid to $2400

Enclosed is your annual membership card - this must be returned with your dues.

Members are required to have dues paid by April 1st. This enables membership to properly process all payments, assign & package badges, and prepare for badge pick-up days. Your cooperation is appreciated.


A fine of $75 will be added to the annual dues if the envelope is postmarked after April 1st. Any members who have not paid by April 1st will receive a letter indicating their indebtedness to the Club. Money orders will be required after April 1st.


You cannot pick up your badges until dues, delinquent fees, and late charges (if applicable) have been paid.  If your dues are still not paid by June 1, your bond will be sold, and any remaining indebtedness will be subtracted from the bond value.

Guest Fees:

            All Guests:              $ 15.00 Holidays (Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day & Pull the plug)

                                                                           $10.00 Weekends

                                          Children under age 1: no charge


            No refunds of daily guest fees will be allowed including (inclement weather days).


Important Notes:

·         The additional family member fee will be charged for each child who will reach the indicated age as shown in the above table any time during the current calendar year. To be eligible, the child(ren) must reside in the bondholder's household.  A copy of a driver's license as proof of residence must be mailed in with your annual fees or the additional requests for badges will not be processed.

·         It is very important that your membership card be filled out completely so that our records are accurate. Please inform the club of any changes, by sending a certified letter to GKSC PO Box 273 SINY 10308

·         We must have your telephone number in order to reach someone in case of an emergency. All information, including unlisted phone numbers, will be treated as confidential, and will not be released to anyone.

·         Guest fees and miscellaneous fees must be paid by separate checks (no cash please) at the front office of the swim club before the close of the season. Failure to comply will result in late payment charges added to your bill as follows: after pool closing, $50; after November 1st,  $100. Please be prompt with your payment!




Membership Policies:


1.  Resignation:


·         If a member elects to resign from the swim club, a resignation letter must be postmarked by April 1 of that year. If this deadline is not met, the resignation will not be accepted, and the required dues for the season must be paid.


·         The bond must be included with this letter, and signed on the back as it appears on the face of the certificate. The letter and bond should be sent to the swim club, via certified mail, to the attention of the Vice President - Membership.



2.  Preferred Membership:


·         Preferred membership is available for children of families that have been members for 5 years.


·         The person requesting preferred membership must send a letter stating so, accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the sponsoring parent. Generally, these letters may be sent after the first of the year they want to join.



·         Preferred members are admitted on a "first come, first serve" basis, as bonds become available, and before new members are considered from the waiting list.


3.  New Membership:


·         All requests for new membership can be made April through October.


·         To be added to the waiting list,  the family wishing to join the club must:

(a)  Write a letter stating so, and include your name, address and telephone number;

(b)     include letters of recommendation from two (2) current members, and;

(c)     Send a non-refundable $100 fee.


·         Due to the length of the waiting list, current members in good standing may sponsor two (2) new members per year.

June  5, 6,12, 13,                                       11:00 a.m. -  9:00 p.m.

June 21  thru Sept 5                                11:00 a.m. -  9:00 p.m

September 6  thru Sept 12              1:00 p.m. -  7:00 p.m.

2.          The annual summer poolside meeting will be held on Thursday, July 23rd at 7:30 pm. The rain date will be Thursday, July 30th  at 7:30 pm. PLEASE NOTE: the club will remain open on the day of this meeting.

3.          Swim club Rules & Regulations and the summer social Activities Schedule will be available at badge pick up times.

4.          Members are reminded they must show their ID cards when entering the pool gates, and wear the badge while on the club grounds.

5.          If a member forgets their ID card, a guest badge will be issued for the day and must be returned @ the end of the swim day or a $50 fee will be charged to your guest sheet

7.          Members will be charged a $25 penalty for checks returned to the club for insufficient funds, etc.

8.   Swimming & Diving Team information will be available during badge pick up times.



ANNUAL RAFFLE SPECIAL REMINDER: Included in this mailing is the ANNUAL RAFFLE to benefit the swim team.  The entry fee is $10 (checks only please, payable to GK Swim Club).

* First prize will be reimbursement of basic family dues portion of your payment - $812.81

* Other prizes will also be offered TO ENTER:  .  Please do not include your raffle entry with your family dues.  The enclosed Annual Raffle Envelope must be used for your raffle entry.  We hope all families will participate and support the Swim Team.  The drawing for the Annual Raffle will take place on Members Day.
